This post came from my second Kickstarter Campaign — and I’m giving it a permanent home here — enjoy!
Well, we made it! We had an incredible day with class after class of second graders. Those kids were smart. And hilarious! Super creative and fun. And they were all glued to Lulu's story and caught on to the major themes — I was so proud of them. (It also is a testament to the great parents and teachers they are training under day-to-day!)
One little girl was so sweet and said to me — "umm, Mrs Gano, I wanted to be a scientist when I grow up but I wasn't sure if I could do it. But now that I heard Lulu's story I know that I can if I work really hard and think positive." :D And we also practiced flipping gloomy thinking and about perseverance — how [a character I haven't introduced you to yet to avoid any spoilers!] didn't make it the first time, the second time, the third time, etc, etc.
They also colored great pics of Lulu and "carved" neat creations in their trees (some answering the question if they went on an adventure how would they get there — and others "carving" something they dreamed of doing).
Anyway, it was a fantastic day - and, again, one that wouldn't have been possible without your help getting the ball rolling. Thank you, thank you -- more soon!
