This post came from my second Kickstarter Campaign — and I’m giving it a permanent home here — enjoy!
Hey everyone — this last week has been crazy — I've been visiting library after library bringing in copies of Lulu's story along with the free Author Visit pages I made. Imagine how fun this is for me. I mean, I can be gregarious, and I do love people. But at the end of the day, I have major introverted proclivities and handing strangers a piece of paper with my face on it and a book that I poured my heart into makes the thought of rolling around on razor blades (or maybe being trapped in an elevator with a hive-worth of bees) sound like a vacation. Also, to add insult to injury, I broke my pinky toe and am in a walking boot — so I've literally been pounding the pavement in boots-on-the-ground sales mode. Please don't throw rotten fruit. hahaha. Also, when I told my sister what I've been up to, she immediately sent me this clip — thanks a lot. hahaha.
Anyway, the bad part is everything I just mentioned, but the fantastic part is that although some places have obviously said no, others have said yes! I'm continuing to book up opportunities to meet with kids and share Lulu's joy with them. That's amazing!
Also, over the last three days I've been in a fantastic conference for independent book publishers (ibpa-online.org). My notebook is full and my brain hurts — it was a great catch.
Anyway, one of the things that stuck with me was this statement during a session where they took a moment to encourage the author/publishers in the group —
It's a miracle to write a book.
It's a miracle if someone reads it.
And it's a miracle if someone likes it.
I realize even in Lulu's humble beginnings — she really is a miracle. Thank you for being such a big part — I appreciate all of you!
