Like I mentioned in my last post, we did drive to Michigan last week and I had the pleasure of walking the halls of my old elementary school and sharing about Lulu! I'm doing a Zoom read aloud with the first graders in just a couple of weeks — I'll be sure to keep you posted.
Getting Close!
Thanks so much for all of the great feedback, pics and fun stories — I love seeing how all of the kids are enjoying Lulu! There've also been reports of babies trying to teach Lulu how to chomp, teachers sharing with other teachers and a teenager finishing the activity book in one sitting! Apparently "ages 4-8" is a really loose guideline. Hahaha.
Pathways
I've been working in the design industry for years. Everything from production to branding and packaging to running my own freelance business. Ironically, I actually didn't study graphic design in college because I didn't want to get stuck behind a computer all day. Ha! So, I double-majored in Art and Spanish — and dumped my time into photography and printmaking.
18, 19, 20 — Ready or Not Here We Come!
This is pretty off topic as far as Lulu's concerned, but a milestone in our family's little world — this past week marked our 20th anniversary! Since the kids were born, we hadn't escaped together for more than a weekend. So, my husband, Kyle, and I packed up and drove south — windows down, music up.
Second Grade Fun
Well, we made it! We had an incredible day with class after class of second graders. Those kids were smart. And hilarious! Super creative and fun. And they were all glued to Lulu's story and caught on to the major themes — I was so proud of them. (It also is a testament to the great parents and teachers they are training under day-to-day!)
Creating Space
About a week ago, one of our kids found a random fidget spinner in the car. And they decided they wanted to do some sort of trick with it. Whuuuuurrrrrr. Vrrrrrrr. CRASH! Whuurrrrrr. Vrrrrrrrr. CRASH! Whuurrrrrr. Vrrrrrrrr. CRASH!
Monday Funday
Happy Birthday Peter Max!
Most likely like many of you, I first started learning to draw by recreating favorite characters — the Pink Panther, Uncle Scrooge, the Ninja Turtles and also (it was the 80s so of course!) My Little Ponies. I'd carefully recreate them in poses that I found in books, comic books, magazines, etc.
